In March, we meet, say goodbye, and remember our loved ones who passed away that day. A flower arrangement store in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. The commercial facility where the store is located was built two years ago. The Yuriage area was severely damaged by the earthquake, and it took a long time to rebuild the town. In spring, many customers come to the store. Flowers for school graduates, flowers to mourn the deceased, and flowers to add color to new lives. For three days, we listen to their voices.

They are accompanied by a friend from a different school, but they hit it off well. The model of the pre-production machine that was born in the Heisei era and continues to evolve even now. 14. Nature's Treasure Hunt on a Niigata Beach

A pebbly beach on Niigata Prefecture's Sea of Japan coast contains pieces of real jade. Some people who come here for a natural treasure hunt find jade right away, others have no luck despite picking through the stones all day. Among the visitors were a family on a trip; regulars who come from far and wide; and a woman whose visits here helped her become more socially outgoing. What is it that lures them so much to this beach? For three days in early summer, we asked the people hunting for treasure at the water's edge.

15. Vegetable Vending Machine in Nerima, Tokyo

Large cabbages, watery lettuce, and freshly picked radishes. A vegetable vending machine in a residential area in Tokyo's Nerima Ward. It is a coin-operated locker-type machine, and customers put money in and take it out. A father and son came for lettuce grown in the field in front of their house. A man stops by on his way home from his daily run and buys some to please his wife. Nerima Ward has the most farmland in Tokyo's 23 wards and is home to many vegetable vending machines. For three days, the camera is set on a somewhat mysterious vending machine

17. At the seaside station where a handkerchief flutters

Many yellow handkerchiefs fluttering in the sea breeze. The setting is a small station on a local train line running through the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki. Behind the platform is the Ariake Sea. Although the station is unmanned, people are constantly visiting, writing their wishes on handkerchiefs and attaching them to the platform. A couple stopped by during a paired date. A photographer drove from Tokyo to take pictures of this railroad. Locals also hope that life with this station will continue for a long time. Listening to the voices of people coming and going for three days at the seaside station.

20. Doronko Park" Children Running in the Rain

Children enjoy playing with mud, making fire, and water slides. The setting is a playground called “Play Park” in Kawasaki City. It is a municipal facility and admission is free. With the support of adult staff, what children want to do is respected. There is a boy absorbed in woodworking, parents and children playing while soaking wet, and children who cannot find a place at school. How are these children living in this day and age? We will listen carefully to their voices during the three days of rain

21. Midsummer Osaka Shaved Ice Memories

Strawberries, blue Hawaii, matcha, and other summer shaved ice. The stage is a long-established ice shop in Hirakata, Osaka. Many people come so that they can be drawn to shaved ice made of "pure ice" frozen over time. Fathers and children who have been here for more than forty years. Two college students who will soon leave their hometown to get a job. There is also a mother and child who come here and remember the late father who loved shaved ice. Why are people drawn to udon vending machines? National Route 9 runs through the San'in region. A small rest stop along the road in western Shimane Prefecture. Many drivers stop by and slurp down udon noodles for about 350 yen. A couple says they stop by every time they return to their hometown. A boy and his family came from Fukuoka to visit this rest stop. Even late at night, people from all walks of life come and go, including drivers of huge trailers and men on their way to deliver milk. We stare at them for three days around the time of the Bon Festival

28. Gunma-Brazil Presidential Election

A new type of documentary program by the “72 Hours” production team, in which the camera is not stationed at a single site, but rather at multiple sites, filming an event simultaneously. This time, the Brazilian presidential election. Four cameras started shooting at the same time at a polling station for Brazilians living in Japan in Oizumi-cho, Gunma, a supermarket selling Brazilian food, a church, and a bar in Rio de Janeiro. What kind of drama will be spun out?

29. Fukui: Invitation to Neko-ji Temple

Ranked 12th in the Year-End Special 2022 viewer poll. Otakun, Futa, Elf, Kaukau.... Sixteen cats living in the precincts of the temple. The setting is a temple in the mountains of Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture. Since the time of the previous abbot, the temple has been involved in the protection of abandoned cats, and now many people visit the temple to see the cats. Some seek solace, others see themselves in the cats. On the other hand, not only the visitors, but also each cat has its own story before arriving at the temple. This film focuses on the stories of cats and people by setting up a camera at the temple.
