1. Chapter 1

Andréa Vargas receives the Prêmio de Moda Brasil. A few hours earlier, Letícia provokes her mother, Julia, saying that she is envious of her sister Andréa's wealth and fame. Isaura begs Mercedes to tell Andréa who her mother is. Julia listens behind the door. Andréa accuses her sister of being envious. Julia throws in Andréa's face that she was adopted. Diogo remembers Andréa. Under the influence of a sedative, Andréa faints during the awards ceremony.

2. Chapter 2

Bruno picks Andréa up and takes her away. Júlia feels guilty. Mercedes tells Andréa that her real mother has already died. Atílio convinces Renato to return home with Júlia. Andréa remembers the past: her romantic entanglements, the loss of her child, the argument with Júlia, and the difficult decision to marry Bruno. Renato and Chico play soccer. Bill kicks Gabriela out of the apartment. Júlia returns to her sister's house.

Andréa kicks Júlia out. Fernanda gives Chico a deadline to disappear from her life. Renato assures Júlia that Chico will help put a crook in jail. Bruno and Selma kiss. Diogo gets drunk to celebrate what would have been his silver wedding anniversary with Andréa. During a dive with Bia, Diogo gets trapped at the bottom of the sea. A rescue team arrives. Andréa feels a pang in her heart: Diogo is dying.

On the brink of death, Diogo has a hallucination: Andréa begs him not to abandon her. Suddenly, his heart starts beating again. Renato, Chico, and Vavá prepare the sting operation. Renato hands over the bribe, and inspector Baraúna is arrested by the police chief. In the bathroom, Letícia meets Gabriela, and the two immediately connect. Diogo decides to return to Rio. Chico argues with Arruda when he sees Fernanda getting into his colleague's car.

5. Chapter 5

Fernanda, indignant, introduces Renata, Arruda's wife. Fernanda throws Chico out of the house. Andréa asks Bruno if he has any secrets; he denies it. Alone, he calls Selma, arousing her. A man with a Santa Claus tattoo on his arm watches Júlia's house. Andrea seeks out Mercedes to learn the whole truth. The Federal Police search Renato's house and find counterfeit dollars in his car.

Renato says he knows nothing. Kléber takes him in for questioning. Mercedes reveals that Andréa is the daughter of Isaura, a schoolmate who died shortly after her birth. Andréa sees photos of herself as a child, before she was adopted, and makes a decision. Gabriela and Nicolau kiss. The boat Costureira docks in Rio. Andréa tells Bruno that she wants to have a child. Andréa and Diogo meet.

Diogo grabs and kisses Andréa. Enraged, she slaps him. Andréa remembers Diogo trying to stop her marriage to Bruno. Sandro photographs Gabriela. Andréa waits for Bruno, who is at Selma's house. When he arrives, she grabs him. Bruno says that Andréa only wants to have a child. Andréa promises Letícia that she will get a good lawyer for Renato. Júlia reacts when Coelho says he fired Renato for just cause.

At the pool hall, Patty meets Gabriela and introduces her to Ariel, her father. Diogo is impressed with Patty and thanks Ariel for managing his inheritance for so many years. Letícia is disappointed to realize that Nicolau is interested in Gabriela. Letícia insists that her mother should accept Andréa's help. Andréa and Bruno dance at a nightclub. Júlia laughs hysterically when Chico informs her that they found an account belonging to Renato with over R$ 2 million.

9. Chapter 9

Chico assures that the police have proof. Júlia becomes completely distraught. Renato despairs upon learning he was fired. Fernanda agrees to defend Renato. Ariel asks Bárbara to hire Júlia Moreno. Júlia finds the job offer strange. Bruno gives Selma a diamond ring; Andréa compliments her mysterious boyfriend's gift. Diogo blocks Andréa's car and insists on talking to her.

10. Chapter 10

Andréa threatens to call the police. Diogo kneels in front of Andréa's car. Then, he takes her to his boat and promises to love her for the rest of his life. Andréa tells Bruno she's going to sleep at Marlene's house, and he stays with Selma. Andréa is shocked to see her photos on the boat and assures Diogo that there's nothing left between them. Andréa arrives home crying, hugs her husband, and tells him she spent the night with Diogo.

11. Chapter 11

Andréa swears nothing happened. Diogo announces he's leaving and asks Ariel to continue managing his assets. Júlia agrees to let Letícia do an internship with Andréa. Ariel searches the house for the wedding ring. Júlia appears in the magazine. Bárbara explains that "Estilo Mulher" was created by a mysterious person: Madame X, who demanded Júlia's hiring. Letícia and Nicolau meet at Andréa's atelier, and he confesses he's interested in Gabriela. Andréa waits for Bruno for dinner. Upon entering the boat's cabin, Diogo encounters Bruno.

12. Chapter 12

Bruno orders Diogo to stay away from Andréa. Diogo accuses him of being self-serving. Diogo throws Bruno out when he accuses him of killing his own son and vows to fight for Andréa to the death. Júlia visits her husband in jail. Chico and Júlia go to a restaurant and cry about their sorrows. Bruno talks to Selma about Diogo. Júlia looks at Chico and sees Renato; she grabs him and kisses him on the mouth.

13. Chapter 13

Tadeu vows he will only speak to Ariel on his deathbed. The parade begins. Letícia runs away when Nicolau kisses Gabriela. After kissing her, Chico drops Júlia off at home. Confused, he can't sleep. Bruno tells Andréa he's willing to have a child. Bárbara, Frida, Sophie, and Nai go to the Love Watchers. Júlia goes to Chico's house.

14. Chapter 14

Chico tells Júlia that she doesn't need to apologize. Stunned, she claims she doesn't remember anything. He mocks her, mentions the kisses, and ends up getting slapped. Andréa receives flowers from Diogo. Letícia tells Gabriela that she can't be her friend because of Nicolau. Selma is shocked to learn that Bruno is planning to have a child. Tadeu apologizes to Ariel. Selma goes to talk to Diogo.

15. Chapter 15

Selma introduces herself as Andréa's friend. Chico grabs Fernanda, who reacts but then gives in. Even so, she insists on separating. Andréa decides to have the child and makes an appointment with a fertility specialist. Nicolau discovers that Gabriela is a virgin. Vavá has an erotic dream about Fernanda. Andréa looks for Júlia.

Andréa asks her sister to tell her who her mother is. Júlia insists she doesn't know. Bárbara tells Tadeu that Nicolau is Diogo's son. Fernanda tells Júlia that she will sue Renato's company for the unfair dismissal. Andréa demands that Mercedes tell her where her mother is buried. Bruno tells Selma to stay away from Diogo. In the newsroom, Júlia discovers that Coelho Leite is a millionaire and owns a horse farm.

17. Chapter 17

Nicolau arrives home dazzled by Diogo and his lifestyle. Renato thinks Coelho Leite is innocent and tells Júlia to forget about the matter. Bruno invites Andréa to lunch and, without her knowledge, also makes plans with David. Júlia arrives at the ranch. Bruno pretends to be surprised by David's arrival, who gets straight to the point: he wants to talk about the sale of the Andréa Vargas brand. Andréa reacts violently.

Andréa demands an explanation. Bruno gets flustered, and she leaves indignantly. Andréa makes it very clear that she will never sell her brand, her name, her art. At the ranch, Júlia pretends to be interested in buying a horse. She shows Coelho Leite's photo to one of the farmhands, who pretends not to recognize him. Bruno explains that he wants to sell the company to have more time for his unborn child. Renato returns home. Chico rescues Júlia in the middle of the road; a truck approaches Chico's car and hits the rear, causing an accident.

After the accident, Júlia screams when she sees Chico unconscious. The car explodes, but she manages to pull him out. Júlia hides when she sees three armed men. A truck comes to their aid. Andréa is furious when she reads in the newspaper that a foreign group is negotiating the purchase of her brand. Diogo is surprised to learn that Selma is Andréa's marketing director. Júlia confesses to Renato that she drank and kissed Chico.

20. Chapter 20

Renato is shaken by the news. Fernanda suspects the accident was an attack. Renato thinks Coelho Leite has nothing to do with the attack and tells Júlia to forget about it. Andréa really likes Letícia's drawings. Selma tells Andréa that she met Diogo and found him fascinating. Chico asks Renato to forget about the kiss. Fernanda looks tenderly at Chico and Mateus embracing, watching television. Bruno proposes to leave the company to save his marriage. Andréa begs him to stay. Diogo goes to Selma's house.

21. Chapter 21

Diogo asks questions about Bruno. Selma reveals nothing and smiles seductively at Diogo. Selma goes to the boat and invites Diogo out. Bill searches the models' apartment and finds Virginia's jewel in Tati's backpack. Júlia tells Kléber about the truck incident. Bruno and Andréa go to a restaurant to celebrate their silver wedding anniversary and run into Selma and Diogo.

22. Chapter 22

Selma is surprised by the encounter and congratulates the couple on their silver wedding anniversary. Diogo can't take his eyes off Andréa. Bruno doesn't hide his discomfort. Andréa thinks Selma planned everything; Bruno, however, believes Diogo orchestrated it. Diogo sends a bottle of champagne to Andréa and Bruno, who refuse it. Selma swears to Andréa that it was all an unfortunate coincidence. Diogo, drunk, goes to Bruno's table and makes a toast. Bruno throws the champagne in his face. The two start fighting, to Andréa's despair, who tells Diogo to get out of her life. Chico tells Vavá that his accident was an attack.

23. Chapter 23

Andréa and Bruno argue because of Diogo. Bruno tells Andréa that he will make his rival disappear, leaving her frightened. Frida tells Júlia that she will confirm to Coelho Leite's face that he owns the stud farm. Bruno explodes at Selma for going out with Diogo. She demands a decision: either Andréa or her. Gabriela promises to put Nicolau in Letícia's hands if she asks Andréa to intercede so that she can be on the cover of the magazine. Andréa arrives unexpectedly and finds Selma sitting in her chair. She calls her for a conversation.

Andréa insists that Selma is against her and wants to know why. Selma counters that she's jealous. Chico tells Kléber that the horse farm is suspicious, but it's not in Coelho Leite's name. Kléber insists that Renato is guilty. Gabriela isn't chosen as the cover girl. Bruno apologizes to Andréa. She begins to accept the idea of selling the company to take care of her son. Renato keeps a mysterious envelope in his garage.

25. Chapter 25

Gabriela flirts with Pablo, who is interested in Letícia. Gabriela is surprised to learn that Nicolau's mother is the editor of the magazine she wants to be on the cover of. Fernanda introduces Heitor to Mateus, and the boy reacts badly. Nicolau takes Letícia home and kisses her. Júlia is against it, but Renato is determined to find a loan shark. Nicolau finds Gabriela crying at his door. She wants to talk to him. Letícia opens the package Renato hid in the garage and finds dollars.

26. Chapter 26

Letícia is shocked to find so much money. Renato assures his daughter that he is innocent, that he borrowed the money from friends, and asks her not to tell Júlia anything. Selma swallows hard when Andréa, embracing Bruno, announces that they are going to have a child. Self-serving Gabriela tells Nicolau that she is thinking of giving up her career. Helpful, he assures her that he will ask his mother for support. Andréa sketches maternity clothes. Diogo sees Bruno and Selma kissing passionately inside a car.

27. Chapter 27

Bruno assures Selma that they will live happily in Sardinia. Letícia, distressed, calls her aunt and grandfather, but doesn't have the courage to talk about the dollars she found. Letícia leaves a message for Nicolau with Patty. Intending to help Gabriela, Nicolau begs his mother to choose her to be on the cover of the magazine. Andréa agrees to sell the company, have the child, and move to a quiet place. In front of Renato's company, Chico sees a car speeding towards Júlia. Desperate, he throws himself in front of her and saves her. Diogo decides to keep an eye on Selma.

28. Chapter 28

In a meeting with Renato, Coelho orders him to remain silent and return what he owes to be cleared of the accusation. Renato begs him to leave his family in peace. Chico comforts Júlia, who is crying. He promises to help her uncover everything. Júlia assures Chico that he is her best friend. Chico admits to Vavá that he is in love with Júlia. Renato is shocked to learn that Chico is investigating the case. Júlia makes a scene when Renato is arrested again. Hidden in the closet, Diogo sees Bruno and Selma making love. Mercedes falls ill. Júlia and Andréa meet at the hospital.

Andréa argues with Júlia for not telling her that Isaura had died. Júlia acts thoughtfully, to her sister's surprise. Diogo asks Ariel to get evidence against Bruno. Nicolau is thrilled to find Gabriela at his door. In love, Letícia calls, but doesn't reach Nicolau. Tadeu shows Bill albums about Carmen Miranda. Mercedes' condition worsens. Ariel shows Virgínia the house, and she can't resist kissing him.

30. Chapter 30

Ariel says he hasn't kissed a woman in a long time. Bárbara tells Virgínia that Ariel is gay. All the girls in the house, except Xana, get angry with Gabriela because they start to think she's evil. Diogo orders Ariel to buy Andréa's company. Nicolau asks Letícia not to contact him anymore. She insists, declaring all her passion, but he only offers his friendship. Bruno tells Selma that it won't be long before they get together. Heitor sighs because Fernanda is paying attention to Mateus, who has a fever. While watching a tape, Chico and Vavá discover a picture frame with a photo of Coelho and Renato at the ranch.

Bruno runs into Diogo at Selma's apartment. Diogo blackmails Bruno: either he sells the company or Andréa finds out about Bruno and Selma's affair. Ariel proposes to Andréa that he buy her company. Júlia spits on Coelho Leite. Chico confesses to being completely in love with Júlia.

Julia thinks Chico is confused, but he grabs her and kisses her. She runs away. Pablo asks Letícia to be his girlfriend. Ariel tells Virgínia that he is gay. Gabriela asks Nicolau to make love to her. Ariel tells Julia that Bruno and Selma are having an affair, that they intend to destroy Andréa, and asks for her help to save her sister. Kléber wants the video, and Chico denies that any exists. Julia thinks it's time to make amends with her sister and goes to Andréa's house. Andréa doesn't like seeing Julia in her house.

33. Chapter 33

Júlia reveals that Bruno and Selma are planning a scam. Andréa kicks her sister out of her house. Andréa asks Selma if her boyfriend is married. Andréa announces she no longer wants to sell the company; Bruno has a fit. Andréa proposes a separation. Bruno apologizes to Andréa and proposes to live only for love and their happiness. She analyzes him constantly. Chico and Vavá follow Coelho Leite, who is heading to the horse farm.

Chico and Vavá discover printing presses and matrices for counterfeit dollars. Renato's name appears in the accounting book. Chico looks for Júlia and asks how she would react if Renato were guilty. She thinks he's trying to "hit on" her and tells him to disappear from her life. Vavá wants to return to the ranch and do a report to win a prize. Chico calls Kléber and makes an anonymous report.

The police and the press raid the horse farm. Bruno fires Selma. Chico discovers that Cardinal was the one who took the most money. He makes a proposition: he'll hand over the accounting book if Renato is acquitted. The owner of the horse farm confesses that he "planted" the dollars in Renato's car, and he is released. Andréa signs documents given to her by Bruno without even reading them. When she leaves, he smiles and kisses the papers. Vavá photographs the accounting book.

Two men overpower Chico and burn the book. Bruno shows the power of attorney signed by Andréa and assures Selma that they are free. Andréa asks Bruno if he had an affair with Selma, but he denies it. Chico and Júlia meet at a diner. She asks if he regrets accusing Renato. Chico resigns from his job. Andréa arrives at the entrance of Selma's building and asks to go up unannounced. She surprises Bruno and Selma in bed.

Andréa slaps Selma, who insists she's better in bed than her. At home, Andréa tears Bruno's clothes, soaks his shoes, and destroys his watches with a hammer. Bruno accuses Andréa of never having loved him; she retaliates, and Apolinário has to restrain him to prevent him from attacking his wife. Renato meets Coelho Leite, who insists he pay his debts. Selma tells Bruno that she sold Andréa's sketches to a Japanese designer. Soon, they may accuse her of making a copy. A few days later, Andréa is barred from her own company and informed that Bruno is the new owner.

Selma, sitting in Andréa's office, announces that she is the new president of the company. Andréa lunges at Selma, who calls security. Andréa decides to sell the mansion to set up a new atelier, but a court officer informs her that she must leave the house. Selma is thrilled with the newspaper headline accusing Andréa of copying a Japanese designer. Júlia argues with Selma. Diogo goes to talk to Andréa; she refuses the financial help offered and insists she needs to be alone. Diogo says he will wait for her. Selma brings gifts for her mother, Isaura, who lives in a modest house.

Isaura shows no happiness whatsoever upon seeing her daughter. Selma looks around and only sees photos of Andréa. Mercedes dies. Júlia and Andréa embrace, deeply moved. Several months pass. Andréa, Apolinário, Euzeni, and Marlene move into their new house. Selma chooses a butler for the mansion. Renato gets a new job. Diogo suggests to Ariel that a news report be done in defense of Andréa.

40. Chapter 40

Gabriela and Nicolau are having fun on a deserted beach. Júlia gets into a fight to defend Andréa, Chico intervenes, and the two end up in the pool in the middle of a party. Letícia suggests that Andréa set up a stall at a young fashion fair. Nicolau declares his love for Gabriela, who ends up leaving in a car with other guys. Chico proposes to Júlia that they be friends, but she refuses. Andréa invites Atílio to live with her. Diogo tells Hélio that they are going on a trip. Renato demands that Júlia explain herself after seeing a photo of her and Chico in the newspaper. Júlia ends up revealing that Chico insinuated Renato's guilt.

Renato becomes very nervous upon learning of Chico's suspicions. Ariel orders a sensational news report about Andréa. Hélio sighs with passion for Patty. Gabriela is startled to arrive home and find her mother, Luiza, and her son Rafael. Luiza insists that Gabriela acknowledge her son. The girls arrive, and Gabriela pretends not to notice, hiding them in the bedroom. Renato goes to Chico's house.

42. Chapter 42

Rafael calls Gabriela "mommy," leaving the girls speechless. Chico confesses to Renato that he distanced himself from the case because he fell in love with Júlia. Renato punches him for insinuating that he was guilty just to be with his wife. Gabriela lies that Rafael is her brother. Bruno gives Selma a solitaire ring as a gift. Gabriela begs Luiza and Rafael to sleep at the apartment. Renato pressures Júlia to find out why she didn't tell him that Chico is in love with her.

Gabriela wakes up and discovers that Luiza has left. Crying, Gabriela tells the models that Rafael is her son. Tati, Xana, and Camila promise to help Gabi, who, feeling guilty, confesses everything she did against them. Bárbara tells Ariel that Diogo is Nicolau's father. Letícia and Andréa work together at the Mixta fair. Coelho Leite forces Renato to take on a new job. Renato is surprised to learn that his savior was Chico Maia.

Coelho Leite orders Renato to retrieve the document that Chico claims to have. Isaura slaps Selma, who threatens to tell Andréa the whole truth. Xana stays with Rafael so that Gabi can go out. Rafael disappears, Xana picks up Gabriela at the party, and the two find the boy sleeping inside the closet. Júlia wants to know where Renato spent the night. Andréa and Letícia are a hit at the Mixed Fair. Andréa meets Diogo at the Marina; Selma observes everything from afar.

45. Chapter 45

Andréa asks Diogo for financial help, and he says he will do everything he can to help her. Gabriela tells Nicolau to get out of her life. Renato asks Chico to hand over the evidence because his family is being threatened. Nicolau looks for Diogo. Gabriela is invited to audition in Los Angeles. She is upset that she can't go because of her son and confides in Xana that she can't have sex with anyone. Júlia visits Andréa and is surprised to learn that Diogo is back. Andréa confirms, through tests, that she can no longer have children. Isaura goes to Andréa's house and offers her services as a seamstress.

Isaura hides her emotion upon seeing her daughter. Andréa notices that Isaura is making gestures like hers while sewing. Bruno tells Selma to stop trying to control his life. Bruno meets with Ingrid. Nicolau asks Letícia for another chance and kisses her. Gabriela cries because she can't go to Los Angeles because of her son. Selma asks Diogo to take her for a boat ride. Provocatively, she takes off her dress and kisses him.

Diogo throws Selma into the water. She is rescued by helicopter. Diogo appears at the fair and Andréa asks him to leave. Ariel tells Nicolau that Diogo is his father. He rebels against everyone. Júlia sees Renato talking to a tattooed man. Virgínia hides under Ariel's bed, locks the door and grabs him. He swears he will jump out the window if she comes near. Ariel jumps out the window.

48. Chapter 48

Aired: 3/16/2002

Everyone rushes to help Ariel, who is passed out on the lawn. He wakes up macho and rude, and grabs Virginia to take her to the bedroom. Cristiano and Tadeu hit him on the head, and he recovers from his macho outburst. Nicolau suffers alone. Selma wants to make love, but Bruno rejects her. Júlia finds dollars inside a book. Diogo tries to help Andréa, but she dismisses him, and he walks away. Devastated, Diogo decides to leave. Andréa runs along the dock and shouts for Diogo. He jumps off the boat, and she begs him to stay.

Andréa begs Diogo not to leave town, as she needs him. They kiss. Júlia follows Renato and cries when she sees him with Coelho Leite. Virgínia discovers that Rafael is Gabriela's son. Andréa decides to travel to Pernambuco with Diogo. Renato cries and assures Júlia that he did everything to protect his family. Júlia goes to Chico's house, and he confesses that he only helped Renato to avoid seeing her suffer. Júlia tells Chico that he is everything she hopes for in a man.

50. Chapter 50

Julia and Chico kiss. Renato apologizes for his mistakes, and Julia confesses that she slept with Chico. Diogo and Andrea arrive in Porto de Galinhas. Renato gets drunk and goes after Chico. Renato assures Julia that he will try to forgive her; Julia accuses him and swears she doesn't want his forgiveness. Certain that his marriage is over, Renato decides to leave. Nicolau returns home.

Nicolau asks Bárbara to tell the whole truth. Renato leaves home. Diogo and Andréa have fun in Recife and end up at a forró dance. The women in the newsroom are mesmerized by Chico Maia's arrival. Diogo offers to help Andréa participate in Fashion Week, but she refuses. Chico and Júlia come face to face in the newsroom.

Sophie flirts with Chico, and Júlia warns him that he's a total jerk. Júlia seeks out Andréa to tell her what's happening. The two reconcile and hug. Virgínia seeks out a fortune teller. Ariel asks everyone to leave so he can meet Virgínia alone. Selma goes to Andréa's house.

Selma insists she did everything out of love for Bruno. Andréa throws her out of the house. Ariel greets Virgínia with flowers. Virgínia puts a magic powder in his drink. Ariel starts experiencing strange sensations and attacks Virgínia. The next morning, he wakes up with amnesia. Nicolau calls Gabriela a liar. Júlia is upset to learn that Chico has returned to Fernanda's house. He explains that he's there to take care of Mateus and that his ex-wife is traveling. Diogo is shocked to learn that he is Nicolau's real father.

Letícia advises Nicolau to look for his father. He tries to kiss her, but she escapes. Isaura goes to Selma's mansion and tells her to leave Andréa alone. Andréa is moved to learn that Nicolau is Diogo's son. Bruno says he will arrive late and tells Selma to go to bed early. Júlia asks Chico to stay away from her. He takes her in his arms and kisses her passionately. Letícia, shocked, sees the scene. At the nightclub, Diogo goes looking for Nicolau.

Nicolau doesn't want to talk to Diogo. Ariel turns pale when they insist on telling him he made love to Virgínia. Chico gives Júlia a ring that belonged to his mother. Selma is furious to learn that, with Diogo's help, Andréa will participate in Fashion Week. Selma hides on Diogo's boat and, while he sleeps, unties the moorings, taking the boat out to sea.

Diogo argues with Selma when he sees her on the boat. She jumps into the sea, injures her leg, and almost drowns. He jumps in to rescue her, and the boat drifts away. The two end up on an island. A coast guard boat locates the castaways. Chico and Júlia are tasked with covering Bob's wedding to Kênia, a stripper. Bruno slaps Selma when she lies about being kidnapped by Diogo. Andréa is shocked when Diogo reveals he was with Selma.

Andréa doesn't believe Selma kidnapped Diogo. Bruno apologizes to Selma and they make love again. Fernanda moves to São Paulo. Renato is devastated when Letícia tells him she saw Júlia and Chico kissing. Selma confesses to Antônia that she's in love with Diogo. Bruno tells Diogo to stay away from Selma. Beto, the father of Gabriela's child, steals a car. Gabriela is shocked to see Beto at the building's entrance.

Beto forces Gabriela into his car. Gabriela threatens Beto with the police, but he reminds her that she was also involved in past problems. Júlia arrives home and finds Nicolau in her daughter's room. Selma and Andréa produce identical outfits. Antônia visits Andréa and is surprised to see some sketches. Beto enters the apartment; Xana and Tati pretend not to notice Rafael's presence, but he hears the noise in the room.

Xana tells Tati to take Rafael to the apartment next door. Ariel doesn't like Joaquim, and Patty accuses him of being prejudiced. Renato tells Coelho Leite that he will no longer work for him. Virginia thinks she's pregnant. Fashion Week begins. Beto jumps the wall and enters the event venue. On the catwalk, Gabriela trips when she sees Beto. Andréa is astonished to find that Selma's collection is identical to hers.

Andréa storms onto the catwalk, accusing Antônia of stealing her collection, and is booed. Diogo removes her from the catwalk. Antônia is applauded at the end of the show. Andréa sees Isaura talking to Selma. Antônia gives interviews. Chico sees a man with a Santa Claus tattoo following Júlia. Andréa slaps Selma. Chico goes to Júlia's house and says he will defend her to the end. Beto offers Letícia a ride. Isaura is distraught when Andréa accuses her of stealing the sketches.

Isaura leaves, assuring Andréa that she didn't steal the drawings. Gabriela makes love with Beto. Virgínia is certain she's pregnant with Ariel's child. Diogo and Ariel decide to investigate Isaura's life, who threatens to go to the newspapers and tell everything, even that her brother was arrested for a crime she committed. Bruno and Antonia have sex. Gabriela is pleased to learn that Nicolau has a millionaire father. Renato warns Chico that his life is in danger. Vavá pretends to be Chico Maia and takes a woman to bed. Mindinho and Zezão mistakenly take Vavá. Júlia goes to Chico's house and finds a gagged woman; she says Chico has been taken.

Selma tells Antônia that Bruno is having an affair. Andréa, disguised, goes to the studio. Renato and Vavá try to escape but fail. Chico gets hit on the head with a stick. Antônia is shocked to see Andréa.

Andréa tries to convince Antônia to confess everything. Hidden, she hears Selma complaining that Bruno isn't coming home early. Coelho demands that Chico hand over the evidence against him. Júlia is overwhelmed with worry. Zezão points a gun at Vavá. Handcuffed, Chico and Renato manage to disarm Mindinho. Vavá hits Zezão with a stick. The three escape. Ariel starts having cravings. Vavá hides in a henhouse. Renato confesses that he turned Chico in. Coelho shoots Chico, Renato steps in front, takes the bullet, and they both fall off a cliff.

Julia has a bad feeling and asks her children to pray. Renato is injured. Chico thanks him for saving his life. Selma orders a new car, and Bruno tells her to cancel the purchase. The doctor warns Chico that Renato's problem is quite serious. Judite screams upon learning that her son may be paralyzed. Isaura sends a letter to Atílio. Diogo offers millions to Selma to convince Bruno to sell the atelier and the brand. Selma tells Diogo that she is in love with him. Julia asks the doctor for news.

Renato cries when he realizes he is paralyzed from the waist down. Júlia affirms that they will fight together so that he can regain his movement. Renato insists that he doesn't want Júlia to stay by his side out of pity, but she reaffirms her love and companionship for her husband. Júlia reacts upon learning that Renato saved Chico's life. Selma puts a pill in Diogo's drink. He loses consciousness; she, in lingerie, lies down on the bed. Andréa, who is waiting for Diogo for dinner, gets tired of waiting and decides to go to the boat. Arriving there, she is horrified to see a woman in bed with Diogo.

Then, he takes the jewels and kisses Selma. Beto threatens to shoot Bruno.

Bruno begs not to be killed. Selma breaks free and attacks Beto, who runs away. Bruno, emotional, thanks Selma for saving his life and begs her not to leave. Beto gives one of the stolen rings to Gabriela. Selma leaves, leaving Bruno and Emanuel devastated. Beto demands the money, but she says the job isn't finished. Diogo asks Andréa to marry him. Ariel reads in the newspaper that he's the new heartthrob in the market. Women scream at his door.

Matheus meets his new neighbor, Gilda. The press waits gathered at Andréa's house. Suddenly, a car speeds towards Euzeni.

Euzeni is run over. Apolinário informs Andréa about the accident. Marlene senses that she was murdered. Selma promises to pay Beto the next day. Coelho Leite orders his henchmen to scare Chico. Disguised as a doctor, he enters Renato's room and threatens Bernardo and Letícia. Diogo prevents Selma from boarding his boat and accuses her of murder. Desperate, she walks away crying. The henchmen invade Vavá's house.

Bruno begs to get back together with Selma; she imposes a condition: that he marry her.

Selma assures Kléber that Antônia was with her at the time of the accident. Selma explains to Antônia that she will only be her alibi if she doesn't help Andréa. Beto threatens to tell Bruno everything.
