As they are at sea, they have to deal with the fury of the North Atlantic, including problems on board their ship, not to mention what happens after arriving in Canada.

3. 1740

This story is about Nicholas de Lugny, a soldier, who has to deal with the hassles of, and learning the pioneer's ways in, a new land.

4. 1832

Aired: 12/10/1978

This story is about John Symons, a Scotsman who, while along with others try to settle in Canada, uses each opportunity open to him so he can become a rich landowner.

5. 1911

Aired: 2/18/1979

This story is about Hans and Camilla Nielsen -- emigrants from Denmark, who try to seek employment in a small New Brunswick town while dealing with their personal problems.

6. 1927

Aired: 3/11/1979

Partially set in the present and partially set in the past, this story deals with a Ukrainian immigrant who, according to a newspaper article dating back to the 1930s was assumed dead in a mining disaster, recalls his life in Canada.

7. The Present

Aired: 11/19/1979

This story is about an Italian family living in Toronto who deal with the colliding of the old world values of their homeland and the modern city life they encounter every day.
