Inspector Anthony is quick to act when a man is caught beating one of his dogs on CCTV, before coming to the aid of a homeless man and his injured Labrador Josie, who needs immediate treatment on a nasty wound. Six puppies found at the roadside are given a second chance at life thanks to a dedicated network of volunteer foster carers, and co-host Angellica Bell meets Rolo, a spaniel-poodle cross that was rescued from a puppy farm and now works as a therapy dog.

Inspector Anthony gives deaf Staffie cross Isla a second chance at happiness, and there is the remarkable story of Teddy, a rescue dog who brought its owner out of a coma. Meanwhile, inspector Herchy has her work cut out when she removes 82 dogs from a single house.

A disturbing sight greets members of the Special Operations Unit when they raid the property of a suspected puppy trafficker, while Angellica Bell finds out first-hand why the demand for designer dogs is so dangerous when she meets a bulldog that needs a serious operation just to help it breathe normally.

Inspector Anthony Joynes comes to the aid of a rotund Rottweiler that has been cooped up indoors by owners who have a ban on keeping animals. An elderly Akita named Bear is signed over to the charity when its owner sees she's starting to struggle with the stairs to his flat, and Angellica Bell discovers what rescue dogs are capable of when she's introduced to the team at Medical Detection Dogs, who have been successfully training man's best friend to sniff out diseases such as cancer and malaria.

In Derby, Inspector Sarah Gardner is called out to a shih-tzu with matted fur and irritated skin. Luckily for the little dog, there's a team on hand to ensure he gets the care he needs. Inspector Anthony Joynes makes a shocking discovery when he finds a dog left in a garden, barely able to walk. Plus, 10 puppies found dumped in a bin are given a second chance at life thanks to the help of the staff and volunteers at Blackberry Farm RSPCA.

Inspector Sarah is called out to a shih-tzu in a sorry state in Derby, while Inspector Anthony is shocked to find a dog abandoned in a garden and barely able to walk. Inspector Charlotte comes to the aid of two border collies living in hazardous conditions in Staffordshire, where their owner is struggling to cope. Cameras also follow elderly German shepherd cross Alfie who faces a tail amputation.

Inspector Herchy investigates the case of two underweight dogs, Staffie crosses Rocky and Bentley. Alan and the team follow the transformation of Angel, a labrador cross suffering from a flea infestation. And Angellica Bell finds out what life is like as an RSPCA vet at Putney Animal Hospital.

Inspector Anthony Joynes takes his skills to Malawi in this special episode, going undercover to investigate the illegal puppy trade, helping out at an open-air surgery on World Spay Day, and helping vet Riaz Rhemu to vaccinate an astounding number of dogs against rabies.

News comes through that a couple who are banned from keeping dogs have acquired new ones, so Inspector Clare is quick to act - only to get a surprise when she arrives at the property. Angellica Bell joins Herchy on her rounds to experience like as an RSPCA inspector and Anthony comes to the rescue of a tiny terrier trapped in a TV cabinet. Plus, an update on Radley the Jack Russell, who was scared of human contact.
