Ulrikke Hansen Døvigen

Ulrikke Hansen Døvigen

Ulrikke H Døvigen Ulrikke (born 4 February 1971) is a Norwegian actress and dancer with a long, consistent career spanning theatre, film, television, and audio productions. Known for precise character work and strong physical presence, she is regarded as a versatile and reliable performer within Norwegian drama. She grew up in Lommedalen and moved to London at the age of twelve with her mother and stepfather. She remained in the UK for 17 years, a period that proved formative to her artistic development. In 1994 she completed a three-year acting degree at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts. Alongside this, she trained in dance at the Vacani School of Dancing, focusing on modern dance, jazz, and basic classical ballet. She has also studied theatre at the Vera Gregg École du Théâtre in Paris, further strengthening her European stage foundation. Døvigen made her institutional theatre debut at the National Theatre of Norway in 2002 as Cecily Cardew in Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Prior to this, she was employed for two years at Oslo Nye Theatre, appearing in productions such as Dracula, Disco Pigs, 40, and Hjalmar og Flode. She has since performed extensively at Nationaltheatret, Riksteatret, and Det Norske Teatret, and is particularly acclaimed for her portrayal of Nora Helmer in Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House. To a wide audience, she is best known as “Jentungen” in the NRK Christmas series Jul på Månetoppen, a role that has become a lasting part of Norwegian popular culture. Her television work includes notable roles in Den unge Fleksnes, Hotel Cæsar, Hjem, Aber Bergen, Heimebane, Wisting, and Pørni, where she played Astrid in the first two seasons. Her performance in Pørni was praised for its grounded and nuanced realism. Her film credits include 37 ½, Marias menn, Mars and Venus, 5 løgner, and Operasjon Mørkemann. In 2018, she appeared in Paul Greengrass’ 22 July, portraying prosecutor Inga Bejer Engh during the courtroom sequences. Early in her career, she also appeared in several British film productions. In the summer of 2014, Døvigen played the antagonist Queen Sirikit in Captain Sabertooth and the Hunt for the Magical Diamond at Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park. She has also worked extensively with audiobooks, radio drama, and voice narration, including Døde menn går på ski, Linus i Svingen, and NRK’s radio thriller De dødes tjern. She is the daughter of actress Kjersti Døvigen and jazz musician Ole Jacob Hansen. She has a daughter with actor Mads Ousdal and is married to former professional snowboarder Daniel Franck. Outside her acting career, she is an experienced horse rider and plays the piano.
